EQ Tendon Support formula targets the equine tendon and healing by supporting both the cause of the injury and also by supplying the key nutrients to aid in repair of the tissue.  EQ Tendon Support targets inflammation, blood circulation, collagen repair, and provides key nutrients through whole food to promote healing.

Tendon injuries in the horse are often related to the liver channel in Traditional Chinese Medicine and blood circulation, which is dependent upon key nutrient delivery.  The key to tendon repair in the horse is by regulating and supporting the liver channel and liver health, while promoting healthy blood (nutrient) production and circulation.  This relates to proper energy (Qi) and blood circulation.  The liver is responsible for proper energy (Qi) circulation in the body and when circulation is compromised, stagnation can take place.  In addition, when the liver is stressed, not only does energy and blood potentially stagnate, but the digestive process is compromised, which can lead to poor nutrient absorption.  In combination, energy stagnation and poor nutrient availability can lead to compromised and unhealthy tissue, which then opens the door for injury.  One key to aiding tendon repair in the horse is by reversing the process, through supporting liver function and energy circulation, supporting digestion, and providing key nutrient availability.

EQ Tendon Repair Formula includes:

  • Turmeric to promote a healthy inflammatory response, aid in circulation of blood, and supports liver function.
  • Angelica sinensis supports ‘blood’ formation with key nutrients to feed tissue and also promotes healthy circulation of blood in the body with a mildly warming effect.
  • Green spinach is a source of vital nitrates to support circulation in addition to being a key source of many nutrients and supports liver health.
  • Collagen Type I is a key repair nutrient needed to aid in healing of tendon tissue.
  • Gotu Kola extract is an Ayurvedic herb used for neurological problems and also benefits tissue repair and regeneration. (Please note this substance may be banned in some venues)
  • Salvia multiorrhiza or Dan Shen is a chinese herb with similar qualities to Angelica sinensis, promoting healthy blood circulation in the body but with a cooling property to combat inflammation.

  1. Can the EQ Tendon Formula be utilized long-term in a horse? The EQ Tendon Support Formula is not intended for long-term usage in the horse, but more so is utilized in the repair process, which is generally 60-90 days.  After this time period, the formula is generally discontinued and a general support formula is put into place to benefit the horse on a preventative level for overall health balance.
  2. Are there any side effects to the EQ Tendon Support? We have not noted any problems in the horse with proper utilization of this herbal blend. .
  3. What situations is the EQ Tendon Support best for in the horse? The EQ Tendon Support Formula is intended for use in horses with either acute or chronic tendon or ligament injuries.
  4. How often is the EQ Tendon Support dosed in the horse? This formula is generally dosed twice daily per label directions in those horses with digestive problems, dosing for 14 days, then moving to once daily administration. It is generally used for 1-2 months, then it is recommended to move to a general support formula.
  5. Can I return the formula if I am not happy with the results or do not desire to use the formula any longer? No. The Secondvet Herbal Formulas are custom made for each client as the order is placed. The formulas cannot be accepted for return.
  6. How long does one pouch last? Each pouch has approximately 28 servings. It will last approximately 28 days when dosed once daily or 14 days when dosed twice daily. If you are just beginning a course of therapy, it is recommended to purchase two (2) pouches of the formula to last you the entire first month and a half of therapy, considering that the formulas are custom made and not stocked.
  7. How can I get further advice and help for my horse? We would recommend setting up a consultation with Dr. Schell so he can get a full evaluation done on your horse, which can be done remotely via email or in person.
